English SMS usually uses GSM 7-bit encoding. Urdu, emoji, Arabic, the pipe symbol (|), or other non-GSM characters switch the message to Unicode encoding, reducing the character limit per SMS part.

Urdu SMS uses Unicode/UCS-2 encoding. 1 Unicode SMS is 70 characters, and longer Unicode messages are counted in 67-character parts. If your SMS contains even one Urdu word, Unicode character, or pipe symbol (|), the whole message is charged as Unicode on Robo SMS gateway counting.
