Marketing vs Transactional vs OTP SMS
Choose the correct Robo SMS route by message purpose, sender identity and onboarding requirements. Compare marketing, transactional alerts and Short Code OTP.
Choose by message purpose
Marketing and transactional describe why a message is sent. A brand mask and Short Code describe the sender identity. Start with the message purpose, then confirm the permitted sender and account.
Are you sending a verification code?
Use Short Code OTP. Neither a pre-approved marketing mask nor your business-name mask can send OTPs.
Are you confirming a customer action or service event?
Use the non-OTP transactional service with your own approved brand-name mask. Examples include receipts, dispatch updates and appointment reminders. Pre-approved masks are not offered for this route.
Are you promoting a product or offer?
Use a marketing account with a pre-approved marketing mask or your approved brand mask. Use a permission-based audience and honor opt-outs.
Mixed messages need review
A receipt followed by an unrelated discount is not automatically eligible as a transactional message. Separate the notification from the promotion and check the appropriate route.
Compare fixed charges
A customer-specific mask costs PKR 5,000 for approval and PKR 5,000 for annual renewal. Short Code OTP costs PKR 25,000 setup and PKR 8,000 monthly retainer. SMS usage is separate and the OTP usage rate is higher than marketing SMS.
